Costly Grace (Mark 15:16-41)

Surely he took up our pain    and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God,    stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions,    he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment that brought us peace was on him,    and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray,    each of us has turned to our own way;and the Lord has laid on him    the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:4-6 Sermon Notes

Jesus Christ Our Advocate (1 John 2:1-2)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do…

Walking in the Light (1 John 1:6-10)

Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord my God, you are very great;    you are clothed with splendor and majesty. He set the earth on its foundations;    it can never be moved. Psalm 104:1-5 Sermon Notes

The Joy of Knowing Christ (1 John 1:1-5)

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Philippians 2:1-2 Sermon Notes

Introduction to 1 John

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5 Sermon Notes
